Public Garden.

Organization: American Public Gardens Association (APGA)

Public Garden, the magazine of the American Public Gardens Association, is THE magazine for professionals in the public garden industry, offering current, engaging content devoted to the world of public horticulture.

As Associate Editor of Public Garden, I work closely with the Editor-In-Chief and Managing Editor to ensure the content of the magazine meets the overall standards of the Association, represents the full scope of work being done by its membership, reflects the diversity of expertise in the industry as well as its geography, and that all deadlines are met. I participate in editorial meetings, review and select submissions, pitch ideas, source authors, track ad artwork, copyedit, review designer drafts and proofs, and manage the online presence for each issue.

Not-So-Grimm Tales.

“Not-So-Grimm Tales is a hilarious tongue-in-cheek retelling of classic Grimm fairy tales that feels fresh and contemporary.” - Pioneer Drama Services

For this project, I worked very closely with the playwright as both a copyeditor and creative collaborator. I reviewed various drafts, acted out scenes, and provided feedback on story, characters, set direction, and dialogue.

The play premiered in 2008 at Footlight Players Children’s Theater Camp in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Since then, it’s been performed nearly 50 times and in theaters all over the United States, Canada, Australia, and China. A brief script sample can be found here.

The American Public Gardens Association is the leading professional organization for the field of public horticulture.

From 2013 through 2019 I was responsible for the management, execution, and tracking of various websites, email campaigns, and mobile apps for the American Public Gardens Association. In 2014, I participated in a full rebrand of the Association’s materials as well as a website redesign, both of which were officially launched in 2015. Currently, I oversee the development and execution of professional development and annual conference websites. I am also participating in another website redesign process with the Association. Check out my CV page for relevant stats.
